It all began when Avicii played a really controversial set at Ultra 15. A lot of people obviously couldn’t appreciate the creativity that was put into it by getting a live-band to perform on-stage. Avicii retaliated and managed to silence the haters with his Promo Mix for 2013. On this Promo Mix it became clear that Avicii went into a new direction, and that 2013 was going to be a new chapter in his career. The Mix also revealed Tim had big plans for his first studio-album that was meant to be coming out this year.
Only days after introducing ‘Wake me Up’ at Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1′s Essential Mix for the big crowd on the 14th of june, Avicii has released his heavily discussed single last monday. So many people have embraced this track with complete support and positivity. The predominantly positive responses on the track were a bit of a surprise since a lot of people didn’t seem to like his earlier mentioned controversial set at Ultra 15.
Avicii has finally decided to fill us in with the details about one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. It was already known that Tim Berling was going to collaborate with Nile Rodgers, Mac Davis, Mike Einziger and Aloe Blacc (known from his catchy vocals on ‘Wake Me Up). The synergy between these ‘wizards’ has led to a truly unique piece of work. The album will be available in September and will be forthcoming on both Ash Pournouri’s PRMD Music and Island Records.
This is what Tim himself had to say about the creation of his first ever studio-album.
“This is about me being true to my sound but also to my own influences and musical preferences. This album consists 100% of songs I personally love. It’s true to me, true to my brand, true to Avicii.”
